HUMUS' ARCHITECTURE

Humus has a pedagogical span developed over 4 months. The first three months are dedicated to the study of research tools on movement and voice: Axis Syllabus, Play-Fight and Voice/Singing. The fourth month is dedicated to a collective creation led by an international choregrapher.

EACH MONTH IS DIVIDED INTO

3 weeks of training

from Monday to Friday 09.30-15.00 with internal teachers of

Axis Syllabus, Play Fight, Voice, Theatre.

1 week Emptiness Atelier
A space to cultivate, question, decompose and recompose.
A space for digestion, integration and re-elaboration of information and experiences.
A space for what is there, to support the processing rather than the static accumulation of information, to realize how the new awareness moves and how they interact with the schemes and structures of reference already present.
In this week self-managed by the group, as teaching staff we will be available as mentors of individual and / or collective processes, both in a direction of revision and in-depth analysis and of composition.

THE 4TH MONTH

it is a month of collective creation led by an international choreographer. The creation will take place during three weeks of work. The show will be presented at the beginning of June at ScieFestival.

WHY'
We observe the body as the first map for orienting ourselves in the world. Spending time to get to know this map seems important to us both as citizens and as professionals. The body is first of all movement, of fluids, tissues, forces, materials of various densities connected to each other. We believe in approaching the movement and together with its theoretical awareness and understanding and vice versa. The ongoing dialogue between practice and reflection is the process we wish to support both in terms of cultural, artistic and human activism.

FOR WHO
Dancers, performers, actors who want a non-academic professional training.
Artists from all fields who wish to dedicate a space-time to study and develop their own language.
People called to investigate their own expressive and creative potential.

PEDAGOGY
HUMUS seeks a balance between the time of practice, of making, taking, giving tools and the time of digestion, reflection, and transformation. It proposes a research process that includes emptiness, silence and waiting between. It is in this space that we see the birth of new similarities and differences. Growth.
Summary of the process are the stages of: experience / story of the experience / analysis / denomination / return to experience

This process aims to replace performance with attention, a gaze that is aimed at.
The precision and completeness of observing require even a slow time, in due course rewarded by the fullness of awareness of the steps taken and those that will be taken. Attention as tension to the waiting that it allows to happen in order to remove tension from the pre-established formal production.

The pedagogical intent aims at giving the tools to build or consolidate the work on corporeality as a sophisticated and attentive active presence at 360 °, starting from the movement to arrive at the dramaturgy understood as a research project. Its characteristics of conduct are the critical attitude, the practical exercise, the terminological care.

It is aimed at identifying and incorporating the principles and forces that underlie the layer of form and expressiveness  for how it manifests itself  and makes itself recognizable. The approach of each discipline is that which requires the body to work in conscious dialogue with the field of forces in which it is inserted, both structural (from inside to outside) and the environment (from outside to inside), to then give space a possible  visions  poetic and / or creative processes.

We want to offer new horizons and perspectives that can be useful tools for everyone to orient themselves in their professional path and / or personal enrichment.

The specificity of this pedagogical approach lies in the fact that everyone can find their way of being in and with the process and draw the nourishment they need.

Both in the moments of training and in those of broader exploration, the proposal is to cross / alternate and combine phases of active observation, with moments of direct bodily experience; opportunities for verbal sharing and analysis of specific terminology to refine a language that emerges from practice and is able to speak about the body; times to get lost in pure perceptive listening;  opportunity to develop and compose independently using the material encountered and the surrounding context.

Humus is an independent project that comes from the bottom, from the vision and work of individual professionals united by a desire: to create a training space based on research and exchange. Humus does not have an administrative and bureaucratic system, it is not funded by any institution.

The direct relationship and adaptability in managing different roles are values that we want to convey.

Humus was imagined by Nuvola Vandini, created in collaboration with Anna Albertarelli, Ester Braga, Chiara Zompa. OfficinaAcrobatica is a precious supporter, as well as a home, where dreams become body.
